End of Term Assembly

At 2:00pm on Friday the children will assemble in the Big Shed to celebrate all of our achievements during the term, particularly all our efforts for Project Compassion.  We will be able to announce how much we have raised for “Cowitas” and also draw the Easter Raffle.   We will celebrate Easter at a school liturgy on the first Friday back at school after the holidays.

Cyclone Larry Appeal

Thank you very much for your donations to the cyclone trail for the St Vincent de Paul appeal.  We raised $465. WOW!  Mrs Bignell, the St Vincent de Paul representative here in Yeppoon, wrote a very appreciative letter to the school, which was shared with the children at Wednesday’s assembly.

Easter Trail

A final invitation is extended to all parents to walk around the Easter Trail with your children.  The children in Middle and Upper Stages have represented the stations using symbols and pictures.  This is a great opportunity to spend some reflective time with your children in the lead up to Easter.

The Staff of Sacred Heart School wish you all a reflective,

joy filled and safe Easter Holiday

Well done to the staff for your commitment to the academic and social / emotional development of every child in our school. Thank you also to all our support staff who ensure we have a safe, clean and well maintained school environment.

The oval will be open for use next Term. Two loads of sand have been delivered and spread to fill up all the uneven areas. The current rain is greatly appreciated to assist the covering of these areas now with grass.

Bottlebrush Car Park Progress

The central island and pathways are now complete. During the holidays the line marking will be completed and signage will be erected as soon as possible.

Parent and Friends Meeting

This meeting was held on Tuesday evening with an attendance of about fifteen. There was good sharing of information about the life of the school and information on the contribution being made by many parents in committees and volunteer roles in the school. The next meeting will focus on deciding on some projects and social activities for the rest of the year.

Choir Notes

All choirs have worked hard this week in final preparations for the Rockhampton Eisteddfod. Their efforts have paid off and they look and sound terrific.  They have once again learnt the benefits of being part of a Sacred Heart Choir are not only musical.  Choir is about using all of your concentration, developing a good memory, expression, working as a team player, laughing, crazy moments, repeating, repeating, repeating, self–discipline and continuing to work hard when you feel you have nothing left to give.  These skills then lead to the reward of accomplishment and self-confidence.  These are great skills which these students can take with them for life.   It is therefore no surprise that after having all of these experiences we don’t need to place so much emphasis on the adjudication at the Eisteddfod.  The children should feel like winners from the successes they have achieved already.

The Upper Stage students have had two challenging pieces of music to work with and need special congratulations for working hard in many lunch times and school times to master these musical pieces.  Only two weeks ago we thought that we would never make it to the end.  Fortunately, the whole group decided to work to their best and master the songs.  Only yesterday we accomplished this and the euphoria in the room was like winning a grand final.  They feel great because they know that they can do something really difficult.  Well done to all – don’t forget anything over the holidays!

All boys in boys choir now have a note regarding what they are wearing for their performance.

Further information will be distributed in the form of a letter in Week One of Term Two.

Lower Stage Choir parents reminder to book tickets during the week of the holidays for their performance.  The Pilbeam Theatre will not be ready to take bookings until then.

Thursday, 27th April, 11am – Boys Choir (Transport by bus)

Thursday, 27th April, 7pm – Middle Stage Choir

Friday, 28th April, 7pm – Upper Stage Choir

Lžžk  A Little Closer

Look A Little Closer is our school organiser for planning units for next term. During planning days this week, teachers have worked tirelessly to prepare exciting units with a major focus on science. They will be investigating local eco-systems, observing features of insects, engaging with energy forces and examining aspects of forensic science.

Parents who have knowledge in any of these areas are encouraged to offer their support in classrooms.

Walk Safely to School

Numbers for the walk were down due to wet weather.  A small group of students and parents braved the wet
