Newsletter No. 13
Today we enjoy the freedom won for us by the Anzacs. We remember their sacrifice and we pray that
the gift of peace, given to us by these brave people will be treasured and
protected for generations to come.
After the battle was over,
and
both sides were back in their trenches,
in
no-man’s-land drifted across the battlefield.
“Don’t forget me,
cobber!”
one
man called out.
The Australians,
exhausted from two days of terrible hand-to-hand fighting,
again
risked death, this time in search of wounded mates who had sought
shelter
in the muddy craters and ditches of the battlefield.
“I’d rather be
killed than leave them there to die,”
one
of the rescuers remarked as he lowered a wounded mate back into the
Australian
trench.

Coloured Team Shirts
The
Coloured Team Shirt Survey has resulted in a generally positive response to the
introduction of the
coloured shirts as an optional part of our school uniform.
The Uniform
Committee has endorsed the purchase of the shirts currently displayed in the
office foyer. The Committee is hopeful a rush order
can be placed in time for the shirts to be available for the Cross Country
Carnival.
To allow
this to happen, orders for the first round must be placed and payment made by
Wednesday 3 May. An order form is included with this newsletter.
Of course,
orders will be taken after this date. Please remember this addition to the
school uniform is optional, however the shirts purchased through the school are
the only coloured shirts to be worn as a team shirt.

Also if you recently ordered shirts, orders can be picked up. The
Uniform Shop will be open on Tuesday next week as Monday is a public holiday.
Thank you
Mrs McGuire and the students of UM for sharing the story of Easter Sunday, at
last week’s assembly. They reminded us
that Jesus’ death is
not the
end of the story, it is only the beginning of a different life.
At assembly
tomorrow, Mrs. Svendsen and the students in US will
lead us in a special liturgy to remember all those who have died in wars. They will pay a special tribute to all Australians who have fought
for their country and lead us all in praying for world peace. During the liturgy special guests from the
RSL will address the children and present the Championship trophy for the
fastest time over 50m freestyle.
On
Monday and Wednesday evening this week, the parents and children involved in
the sacramental program preparing for Eucharist and Confirmation, completed
Stage

attended the evenings and also the members of the sacramental team for their
input during each of the evenings. The children
with their parents will now continue to work through their workbooks in
preparation
for the special mass to celebrate receiving Confirmation and first
Eucharist on Sunday, May 28th.
