G’day Everyone!  Found the following reflection and thought I’d share it with you.  With ANZAC Day still fresh in our minds, the Aussie Spirit lingers on.

The Australian Beatitudes

Blessed are those who laugh at themselves:

They will have no end of fun.

Blessed are those who can tell a mountain from a molehill:

They will be saved a lot of bother.

Blessed are those who know how to relax without looking for excuses:

They are on the way to becoming wise.

Blessed are those who know when to be quiet and listen:

They will learn a lot of new things.

Blessed are those who are sane enough not to take themselves seriously and face serious things calmly:

You will go far in life.

Happy are you if you can appreciate a smile and forget a frown:

You will walk on the sunny side of the street.

Happy are you if you can be kind in understanding the attitudes of others, even when the signs are unfavourable:

You may be taken for a fool but this is the price of charity.

Blessed are those who think before acting and pray before thinking:

They will avoid blunders.

Happy are you if you know how to hold your tongue and smile, even when people interrupt and contradict you or tread on your toes.

The Gospel has begun to seep into your heart.

Above all, Blessed are you who recognize the lord in all whom you meet:

The light of truth shines in your life, for you have found true wisdom.

IF ONLY!!  KEEP TRYING!!

Cheers, Pam

Opportunity to say “Thank you”

The Car Park Opening is an opportunity to thank Beaches on Lammermoor for their contribution to Sacred Heart. The new car park is to decrease traffic using the Barracuda school entrance and to contribute to safer travel in the general area. Particular thanks goes to Mike Hogbin of Ripparob and Capricornia Blue who donated a substantial sum of money and also oversaw the building of the car park. Thank you to Janek De Silva, financial director of Concept Living who are developers of Beaches on Lammermoor, for their contribution. Thank you also to CSR and to DCEO for their contributions and for the support from the DCEO personnel.

Welcome to Mr Craig Fairbairn

Today we welcome Mr Fairbairn who is the Assistant to the Director Schools for the Rockhampton area. He will converse with teachers and staff and visit some

classes today. Craig will return tomorrow

 for the Car Park Opening.

Important Instructions - Using the New Car Park

The Bottlebrush Car Park will be open for use on Monday. The main drop off and pick up zone for the school is now in the Bottlebrush Car Park and children can be dropped off there on Monday morning. Parking for preschool vehicles is still presently to be the Barracuda Car Park while others are encouraged to park in the Bottlebrush Car Park. The main changes will be in the afternoon.

·         Children waiting to be picked up by parents will go to the big covered area

·         Teacher supervision will be provided in the covered area. There will no longer be supervision in Barracuda and children will not be allowed to wait in this area.

·         The crossing supervisor will be on the crossing in Bottlebrush. There will be no crossing supervisor in Barrucuda.

·         All parents who park in Barracuda in the afternoons must walk into the school and escort their children back to their cars (This area continues to be suitable for Preschool parents)

·         Parents who park in Bottlebrush can remain in their vehicles and children will use the crossing to cross to the centre vehicles or walk around the northern end of the car park to reach vehicles parked on the far side.

·         The flow-through no-parking zone in Bottlebrush is to be the quick-pick up area.

Change can cause stress so talk with your child about your pick up plan. Ensure your plan fits in with the above guidelines. Be patient. Report problems to the office. Do not all come at 2:55! Teachers will provide supervision in the big covered area until 3:20.

Pedestrians in Bottlebrush Drive

Students and parents who walk to school are being encouraged to use the person gate in the fence near Tabor Drive and to cross well away from the car park entrance and round-about at the intersection of Franjipani Drive and Bottlebrush Drive. The round-about will now be a major traffic area and will be more dangerous for pedestrians. A letter has been sent to the Livingstone Shire Council requesting a review of the pedestrian and vehicular traffic in Bottlebrush Drive and requesting that any changes that increase safety in the area be made as soon as possible.

Eisteddfod Choirs

Last Thursday morning the Boys Choir took out first place. On Thursday evening the Middle Stage Choir came second and then on Friday evening the Senior Choir came first. The school was presented with three other trophies recognising Primary School Choirs Highest Points, Most Outstanding Choir and Aggregate Points. Congratulations to Mrs Louise O’Shaughnessy and Mrs Amanda O’Brien on all of the wonderful performances which clearly show the time and dedication you have given. Thank you to Mrs Sheila Thorne and Mrs Ursula Boyd for their assistance also. Thank you to you as parents especially those involved with the final practices at Emmaus.
