Newsletter No. 4

Thursday, 16th February, 2006

Last Friday at assembly Mrs Jenkinson’s

class told us to, Accentuate the positives,

eliminate the negatives and don’t

mess with Mr. In-between.  Being positive, it seems,

is a matter of  perspective as the following reflection

illustrates.

For my  teenager who is not doing the dishes but

Is watching TV because that means he/she is at

home and not on the streets.

For the taxes I pay because that means that I

am employed.

For the mess to clean after dinner party because

It means I have been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug because

It means I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work because

It means I am out in the sunshine.

For the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need

Cleaning and gutters that need fixing, because it

means I have a home.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the

parking area because it means I am capable of walking

And that I have been blessed with transportation.

For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means

I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the

Day because it means I have been capable of

working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning

Because it means  I AM ALIVE!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!      Pam Iafrati

Congratulations: We are Nut Free!!

Thank you to all parents for your assistance. Our anaphylactic children are now eating with everyone else. Please help us to maintain this nut-free, safe environment

No Hat! No Play!

Please ensure that your child is bringing their hat to school. Children without hats must sit in the covered areas and not play. Some children are crowding into the office in the lunch times in an attempt to borrow hats. Hats will no longer be available at the office for reasons of hygiene. Children should have their own hat with their name clearly marked on it.

APRE NEWS

Tomorrow the teaching staff will be attending the Bishop’s Inservice Day at Emmaus College. NB: NO SCHOOL.

This year the focus is on JESUS as we continue to

Examine the Diocesan Vision Statement, “As a community of believers, we live out the call of Baptism, through personal faith in Jesus, witnessing together to the Good News of the Kingdom”.

This Sunday, February 19th, is World Marriage Day.  Every Catholic Church throughout the diocese of Rockhampton will be celebrating this special day and you are invited to Renew your Marriage Vows with your family at one of the weekend Masses.

A candle will be used during the Ritual and couples are invited to bring along their wedding candle. (Couples without a wedding candle may like to purchase one for this occasion.)  An invitation, listing the mass times, is included with the newsletter.

An Altar Server roster was sent home this week with the children who indicated they would like to be involved in this very important ministry. I thank those children for accepting the responsibility of becoming an Altar Server. The children will participate in training

for the role at the church next Friday.

Quick Write

By Robert McKone

All the animals lined the banks of the Zamboola River waiting for the race to begin.  The water was as blue as the sky on a clear day.  In the air there was the smell of manure and the air tasted of bamboo.  The race started, the gun went off like a volcano. I jumped in and the water was soft as a silk blanket that was covering you all over.
