Newsletter No. 5

Thursday, 23rd  February, 2006

At the Bishop’s inservice day we were asked to ponder the words

Jesus spoke “Who do you say that I am?” (Mark 8:29).

The keynote address by Bishop Robinson from Sydney and the many

interesting workshops  provided us with plenty of opportunity to

Oval Callout: Jesus walked as a human
Among humans,
…he floated on no pristine
    clouds,
…he was no odd hermit
He preferred the world of dirt and friends and hand-
shakes. (from Jesus with
Dirty Feet Discussion Guide by D Everts/D Scott 2003 p23)
think about, and discuss, this question.

Rectangular Callout: Jesus is the light of our lives. He is light for our footsteps and the guide for our path. As we walk in the light we give it a chance to shine in our world.
(Social Justice Sunday Statement 2005 p.3)
Now it’s your turn. For you is He:

This year’s Lenten program centres on who Jesus is for you.

Lent is an opportunity for us to reflect on how our faith in

Jesus is expressed in concrete ways in our lives.  More about

The Lenten program for 2006 in next week’s newsletter.

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.  Lent is the season in the church year leading up to Easter. It is a time of preparation for Easter.  A time to reflect on our lives and rededicate ourselves to following Christ.  Mrs Gawne and the children in MG will lead us in celebrating Mass at the Sacred Heart Church commencing at 9:00am. Lower and Early Stage will celebrate with a liturgy at school.  There will be no school assembly next Wednesday.

Mrs. Blyde and the children in LB will lead us in prayer this Friday at assembly.

            Have a Great Day!!!    Pam.

Head Lice

The reoccurrence of head lice is causing a great deal of concern among parents.  The school has several measures in place to stop the spread of head lice: students are discouraged from the sharing of hats, shoulder length hair is expected to be tied or pinned up.  When head lice are reported in a particular class parents are notified with a note from the office.

For more information this week’s Mirror newspaper has an interesting article about the subject and suggests a website- www.health.nsw.gov.au/headlice/nitbusters/
